A Mountain Engagement Session for Braden & Dakotah

There is something incredibly special about being trusted to photograph a season of life that means so much to our couples—and even more so when they are willing to travel a long way to have us be the ones behind the camera. When Braden and Dakotah drove all the way from Washington to the top of one of our favorite mountains in Cascade, Idaho, for their engagement session, we felt incredibly honored.

These two had gotten engaged just about a month before their session, and it was so much fun to spend an evening celebrating this exciting new chapter with them. With their wedding day ahead in Hawaii, their engagement session gave us a beautiful opportunity to capture a completely different side of their story: the rugged beauty of the Idaho mountains.

And what a beautiful evening it was.

Late summer was beginning to give way to fall, creating that magical in-between season we love so much in the mountains. The greens of summer were still present, but pockets of golden and changing foliage were beginning to appear throughout the landscape. The combination of late-summer greens, early fall color, and the expansive mountain views made for the most beautiful backdrop for Braden and Dakotah’s engagement photos.

There is something about getting above the valley and into the mountains that never gets old for us. The views seem to stretch forever, the light takes on a softness of its own, and every season brings something completely different to the landscape. It was especially meaningful to share one of our favorite places with a couple who had traveled so far to experience it with us.

Braden and Dakotah, thank you for making the drive from Washington and trusting us to capture this little piece of your engagement season. We don’t take that kind of trust lightly. It is such an honor when couples choose us from near and far, and we are so grateful we got to spend this beautiful evening with you.
