Katie & Jared | A Boise Engagement Session

There is something so special about getting to know our couples before their wedding day, and Katie and Jared’s Boise engagement session was such a beautiful example of why we love these sessions so much.

We met Katie and Jared at Boise Whitewater Park, a new-to-us location that gave us the chance to explore a completely different setting together. It was a beautiful evening in Boise, although definitely a hot one! Katie and Jared looked incredible, and their outfits complemented the scenery so beautifully. Or maybe it was the other way around; the scenery seemed to complement them perfectly.

From there, we made our way into the Boise foothills for the second half of their session. What we didn’t know when we arrived was that this area held so many memories for Katie and was close to home for her. Getting to photograph them in a place that already carried meaning for her made the evening feel even more personal.

And honestly, that is one of our favorite parts of engagement sessions. It isn’t just about getting beautiful photographs of the two of you before your wedding. It’s also about getting to spend time together.

Even though Katie and Jared’s engagement session took place just a few days before their Sun Valley wedding, that time together was incredibly valuable. We got to learn more about them, build a little trust, discover which poses and prompts felt natural for them, and learn how to photograph them as a couple, not just as two people standing in front of our cameras.

Because when your wedding day arrives, we don’t want it to feel like strangers are showing up with cameras.

We want it to feel a little more like friends are walking through the door.

That comfort and connection makes a difference. When you trust your photographer and feel comfortable in front of the camera, it shows. Your genuine laughter comes more naturally. Your interactions feel more relaxed. And the photographs become a reflection of who you actually are together.

That is why we encourage our couples to make time for an engagement session whenever possible. It is an opportunity to slow down, have fun together, and build a relationship with the people who will be alongside you documenting some of the most meaningful moments of your life.
