We met in the summer of 2008 during a teen trip to a music festival for which we were both youth leaders. We had never met up to that point, even though we both lived in such a small town. Looking back, it was probably a good thing since there are over six years between us - if we had met before, Rob might have seen Laura as too young. After serving on a missions trip to Mexico together, we started a young adults group. This was a big bonus because we got to spend more time together. In December, Rob being the chivalrous type, asked Laura's dad permission to date her. This was a big deal because Laura had chosen not to date in high school, so Rob was her first, official boyfriend. It didn't take long for us to realize that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
How we Met

After dating for eight months, Rob set up the sweetest proposal at one of our favorite places along the river. He had arranged to have his best friend take pictures, while hiding in the bushes wearing a gillie suit. This was something Laura did not know until Rob gave her the pictures of the proposal the night before the wedding as a gift. We had packed a picnic and Laura quickly noticed Rob wasn't eating, which is very unlike him. Next thing Laura knew is Rob was kneeling down and asking her to be his wife. Of course she said yes!

We both wanted to have an outdoor wedding. Since it was August, we decided we needed to plan our wedding for the following spring or plan our wedding in two months. Well, we chose the two month option because we just couldn't wait to be married. Planning a wedding in two months is no joke. However, we were young and naive and didn't know the challenge that awaited us. The great thing is that we planned our wedding before Pinterest, and it was truly ours. We put so much thought into every detail and even though it may not have been as blog-worthy as we would have done it now, it was a reflection of our love and the life we were building together. That is what made it special. Even though we had to move it indoors at the last minute due to a winter storm, at the end of the day it was still perfect. It was such a beautiful day surrounded by all the people that love us the most. Our favorite part of the day however, was when the wedding was over and we got to walk away married!

After two years of enjoying married life, we welcomed our first baby, Robby into the world. Carter came into our lives about three years later, and then our little girl, Kaya, followed shortly after that. Being parents is one of the most exhausting but rewarding things we have ever done. Each new faze of life with our kiddos is a new adventure, and we are excited for what lies ahead. Our perfect day as a family is when we make a yummy breakfast together, then spend quality time outside, either hiking followed by a movie and popcorn, or camping and then having a campfire under the stars. We love raising our family in the mountains where adventure awaits right outside our backdoor.

In 2013, we purchased our own personal fixer-upper in the mountains where Rob grew up. This provides the endless opportunities to put our DIY and design skills to work. We have come a long ways, but are still excited for what else our home can become. It is a joy to have a home that provides a place to host social events, as well as our friends and family. One of the highlights in our home was when we were able to host Thanksgiving for both Rob and Laura's families. One year that meant twenty-three people in our home enjoying food and fellowship.

One of the great journeys we have been on together is growing and building our photography business. It is almost humorous to look back to when we began in 2012. But we also know everybody starts somewhere and are so proud of how far we have come. We always love spending as much time together as possible, which is why working together is so fun and rewarding. Marriage is a huge part of why we love doing what we do. We love serving our couples during the wedding process, but investing in their marriage is what's most meaningful to us. We feel grateful that God has given us the ability to do what we love, and we are excited for where our business goes from here.
