BEHIND THE LENS
MORE OF our STORY
Being head over heels in love and valuing marriage so much has given us such a love for, well, LOVE! Yes, we know that sounds cheesy! We simply love doing what we love, with whom we love, for people we love! Did we say "LOVE" enough?
As wedding photographers, we are entrusted with the
awesome privilege of witnessing the moment a husband and wife become one in marriage, and capturing that moment forever in a timeless photo.
We met in the summer of 2008 during a teen trip to a music festival for which we were both youth leaders. We had never met up to that point, even though we both lived in such a small town. Looking back, it was probably a good thing since there are over six years between us. If we had met before, Rob might have seen Laura as too young. After serving on a missions trip to Mexico together, we started a young adults group. This was a big bonus because we got to spend more time together. In December, Rob, being the chivalrous type, asked permission from Laura's dad to date her. This was a big deal because Laura had chosen not to date in high school, so Rob was her first, official boyfriend. It didn't take long for us to realize that we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together.
how we met
After dating for eight months, Rob set up the sweetest proposal at one of our favorite places along the river. He had arranged to have his best friend take pictures, while hiding in the bushes wearing a ghillie suit. This was something Laura did not know until Rob gave her the pictures of the proposal the night before the wedding as a gift. We had packed a picnic and Laura quickly noticed Rob wasn't eating, which was very unlike him. Next thing Laura knew, Rob was kneeling down and asking her to be his wife. Of course she said yes!
We both wanted to have an outdoor wedding. Since it was August, and we didn't want to wait till the following year to be married, we chose to plan our wedding in two months! Planning a wedding in two months is no joke. However, we were young and naive and didn't know the challenge that awaited us. The great thing is that we planned our wedding before Pinterest, and it was truly ours. We put so much thought into every detail and even though it may not have been as blog-worthy as we would have made it now, it was a reflection of our love and the life we were building together. That is what made it special. Even though we had to move it indoors at the last minute due to a surprise, snow storm, at the end of the day it was still perfect. It was such a beautiful celebration surrounded by all the people that love us the most. Our favorite part of the day, however, was when the wedding was over and we got to walk away married!
After two years of enjoying married life, we welcomed our first baby, Robby, into the world. Carter came into our lives about three years later, and then our little girl, Kaya, followed shortly after that. Being parents is one of the most exhausting but rewarding things we have ever done. Each new phase of life with our kiddos is a new adventure, and we are excited for what lies ahead. Our perfect day as a family is when we make a yummy breakfast together, then spend quality time outside, either hiking, fishing, or just exploring nature, followed by a movie and popcorn, or camping and then enjoying a campfire under the stars. We love raising our family in the mountains where adventure awaits right outside our backdoor.
One of the great journeys we have been on together is growing and building our photography business. It is almost humorous to look back to when we began in 2012. But we also know everybody starts somewhere and are so proud of how far we have come. We always love spending as much time together as possible, which is why working together is so fun and rewarding. The commitment of marriage between husband and wife is a huge part of why we love doing what we do. We love serving our couples during the wedding process, but investing in their marriage is what's most meaningful to us. We feel grateful that God has given us the ability to do what we love, and we are excited for where our business will go from here.
Who We Are
Literally, my first, and only, boyfriend was so incredible I married him! Yep! Rob was my first and only boyfriend. I feel so incredibly grateful to do life with him!

Growing up, I had several business schemes that my parents humored. My favorite was when I unsuccessfully tried breeding Siamese fighting fish to sell door-to-door in my neighborhood.

My life's ambition as a kid was running a doggy daycare because I couldn’t think of a better way to spend my days. Our family isn’t complete without several fur babies that bring lots of joy.

You might as well just call it a latte or dessert in a cup. I’ve tried to drink it black, but have decided I do not like coffee... Just what goes into it!

They warm the heart and soul, and draw people in close, often creating the perfect ingredients for intentional and deep conversations.

My heart swoons when my mornings are met with three precious, sleepy faces, and abounding cuddles! I'm forever grateful for the gift of time that our business gives to our family.

Overusing exclamation points and smiley faces could be considered a fault of mine!! :) It is something I am trying to get better at, but it’s hard! I just want my personality to come through, even in text.

So grateful to love and be loved by my Savior! Jesus is my best friend and the foundation of who I am.

On Saturday mornings, while we are making breakfast, you might hear me bursting out in song, singing along to my Disney playlists. The kids don't seem to mind that I'm tone deaf.
03. GUILTY PLEASURE
The great outdoors is where I enjoy my favorite things: hunting, fly fishing, backpacking, camping... The list could go on and on.

I might hit the snooze button ten times before getting out of bed. I enjoy a good morning routine, but those first few minutes of getting out of bed are so hard.

Umm... I'm not really sure what to say. I'm suppose to have the same number of snippets as Laura, but I'm a man of few words.

For me, my happy place is anywhere my beautiful bride is! Time with her is always well spent, whether it is having a date night or just working side-by-side!

If I had to eat one thing for every meal going forward, I would eat PEANUT BUTTER! I'm kind of obsessed.
06. TOP FOOD
Some of my other job descriptions on a wedding day are: veil thrower, boutineer pinner, bouquet holder, tie straightener, train carrier, and pocket police.
