A Windy Summer Wedding at Shore Lodge | Maddie & Connor

Maddie and Connor’s wedding day at Shore Lodge in McCall, Idaho was one of those days that reminded us just how beautiful and unpredictable Idaho can be.

The weather had a personality all its own. Strong winds rolled across Payette Lake, sending waves crashing against the shoreline and making the lake feel more like the ocean than a mountain lake. The dramatic skies and movement on the water created an incredible backdrop for their wedding day and made every moment feel a little more adventurous.

One of our favorite memories happened during Maddie and Connor’s first look. As the two of them saw each other for the first time, the sun streamed through the trees and, almost as if on cue, huge snowflakes began drifting down around them. It was one of those unexpected Idaho moments that felt absolutely magical. The combination of sunshine and snowfall created such a beautiful setting and made their first look even more memorable.

Maddie and Connor were amazing throughout the entire day and intentionally built extra portrait time into their timeline. As photographers, that is always such a gift. It allowed us to explore several beautiful locations throughout Ponderosa State Park and create a wide variety of images while still keeping the day relaxed and enjoyable. Their willingness to embrace the weather and trust the process gave us so many opportunities to create portraits that truly reflected the beauty of the day.

We also loved working alongside Sierra and Shadaya from Little Bird Events. Their team transformed the Shore Lodge dining room into an elegant and welcoming reception space, and every detail was thoughtfully executed. The floral artistry by Wayward Greens Floral Design completely took our breath away. Everywhere we turned there was another stunning arrangement, and we honestly couldn’t stop photographing the flowers. The creativity, texture, and abundance of blooms elevated the entire space and brought so much beauty to the celebration.

The dance floor was equally memorable thanks to DJ Jesse D. It was obvious from the moment he arrived that he genuinely loves what he does. Maddie and Connor came ready to celebrate, and he kept the energy high and the dance floor packed all night long. From the first songs to the final dances, guests were having an incredible time.

One of the things we love most about Shore Lodge is how well it handles Idaho’s ever-changing weather. Whether the day brings sunshine, wind, rain, or even surprise snowflakes, guests can enjoy breathtaking views of Payette Lake through the lodge’s beautiful windows while remaining comfortable in a warm, covered space. It truly offers the best of both worlds and remains one of our favorite wedding venues in Idaho.

It was such a joy to be part of Maddie and Connor’s wedding day. We loved getting to celebrate with them, capture the beauty of their story, and witness the beginning of this exciting new chapter. Marriage is such a wonderful adventure, and we are so excited for everything that lies ahead for these two.
