A Vibrant, Indian Sun Valley Wedding

Where do we even begin?! This past wedding weekend we had the absolute privilege of photographing not one but two weddings for the same amazing couple! We love how Taylor and Sakthi had the desire to bring both sides of their friends and families together to celebrate not only two people becoming one through marriage but the fusion of two cultures as well. It was so beautiful to document the richness of both cultures and traditions blended into the beautiful weekend that celebrated one thing; the love between Taylor and Sakthi that overflows onto everyone that they encounter. This was definitely felt at their colorful Sun Valley Wedding.

Our weekend began in the early morning at Carol’s Dollar Mountain Lodge in Sun Valley. With a crisp September morning chill and dew on the lawn, people began to gather to watch the Indian ceremony events begin. For some, including us, it was all new and we all watched with excited expectation. For others, the events beginning to take place were rich traditions that held a very special place in their hearts. One thing that we all had in common was joy and excitement to be witnesses to this special day.

The richness of color and culture immediately captured our hearts. It was so much fun to just be ready to capture all the special moments, even though we didn’t know entirely what to expect. After photographing hundreds of beautiful, traditional weddings it was so fun to photograph something so completely different and so full of color. The ceremony was fluid. Guests could gather and watch, or grab coffee and breakfast and take it all in from a distance.

After the ceremony, we all had the most delicious Indian cuisine for lunch. Like really, so yummy! Then everyone gathered for one of our favorite parts, the dancing! These dances were absolutely electric! The best way we can describe the style is like Bollywood dancing, although that’s not the correct name. It was so fun to see friends and family from both sides take part in this fun tradition! There wasn’t a face in the entire room that didn’t have a gigantic smile!

Taylor and Sakthi, we still can’t wipe the smiles off our faces from this amazing day! We are so grateful for you both for trusting us to capture such a special piece of your story. You are both so much fun! Not to mention, so incredibly loved by your friends and family. We hope you continue to embrace each other’s beautiful culture and traditions as you blend your separate lives into one. We are absolutely cheering you on!! Happy scrolling!!
